OK - so better late than never... here are some final pictures of Prague...
Here's a statue from the Charles Bridge... This is Mathias Braun's statue of St. Luitgarde kissing Christ's wounds. It's the most notable statue on the bridge to art historians.
The statue pictured below however, is by far the most popular. Here you can see a Turk, who is just totally bored (lower left) while guarding Christians in a jail at his side. When the statue was erected, just 31 years after the 2nd Turkish siege of Vienna, it scandalized the Prague public, who smeared it with mud.
A view of the castle and it's cathedral from the first main square in the New Town.
We found a great little place to grab breakfast for 5 Euros a piece, and ate there every day. Here's Luna, enjoying her meal!
There were lots of little Absinthe shops around... we didn't give it a try!
Here's what the street signs looked like... yes, it took some getting used to! What the heck is a "most?" (It's a bridge...)
Here's a shot of the city from the castle walls. It's a good shot for depicting just how big the city is, outside the old town area. It's a huge city.
This is the cathedral that sits up within the castle. We wanted to go inside, but there was a huge line. Luna is not line "conducive." We enjoyed the outside, anyway...
And here are some of the gargoyles. I love gargoyles. And it was raining, so many of them were spouting out their "gutter duties... "
And here is Charles Bridge again.
This lovely art nouveau building was in the Jewish Quarter, and was also where we had a fabulous dinner on our last night there. If anybody is visiting soon, just ask - we have lots of fabu restaurant recommendations! We felt so lucky!
And Luna playing around after dinner...
