Thanksgiving 2011

It was a "Pajama Pilgrim Party" today...

While the turkey roasted Bas and Luna did a little craft activity...

Portable internet instructions... :)

Luna got to help with cutting.

And on the actual holiday (a normal work day here, of course...) Luna did some special printable activities and got to hear all about the Thanksgiving story.

We started a new tradition this year with our new Thanksgiving table cloth.  Each year we will write down a new sentiment and share what we are thankful for!

Can't wait till it's chock full!

Laternen, Laternen...

Well, it's our third time Laternen with Luna, and we finally ha d a year without rain and miserable cold!  There were no fits or temper tantrums, and we actually made it on with WHOLE walk with the lanterns!

Luna's lantern... she made it one evening with Papa at school.  It's always a "Papa" craft activity, which I think is so cool!

They use real, fire candles!

The older kids do a little spiel about St. Martin...

Then everybody heads off into the dark on a little journey with only the lanterns to light the way!

Luna and some friends from her class...

What to do on an Autumn Sunday afternoon????

We thought it would be fun to collect some leaves and make some turkeys!  Here was my original design...

Bas got tired of waiting for me to come up with instructions, so here is his interpretation...

And Luna's original attempt...

But after I had a chance to complete the design, I worked with her together and we did this!  I love the flower hair-do, which was upon her insistence!

Getting Organized... !

Yesterday I bought the dresser we will put in the nursery, so that we can start finishing the room.  The peach walls look so good I'm excited to get it done!  So I decided today to get out all of the baby clothes we've gotten for the baby, and get them organized and ready for drawers!

I know this looks like a lot, and it is, but it is actually a mixture of preemie, newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months and even some larger sizes throughout the first year.  We have almost all of Luna's clothes saved, but when we left the US, I put all of her clothes from the first year into storage, so we needed to get all new things (oh darn.)  Actually most of Luna's wouldn't have worked anyway, as she was born in August!

But we actually managed to get all of this without entering a store!!!  My Mom was kind enough to bring a bunch of newborn stuff, and I also picked some up secondhand from a lady who also had a daughter born in January!  I felt really fortunate to find some really nice things for not too much cost!

And below is a picture of Bas's handiwork in the closet.  He added a new bar below the one we currently use for Luna.  Not much on it yet, but newborns don't really need much that goes on hangers!!!

Stay tuned... pictures of the nursery should hopefully be coming soon!
