Trip to the NL - Day 1 and 2

On our way to the Netherlands last weekend, we stopped at Ivo and Marit's in Apeldoorn before going on to Haarlem. They were friends of ours in Columbus, and Marit got pregnant just before they left to go back to Holland. So we got to meet Joep! Here he is...

What an adorable face!

Kisses!

Look at Luna being coy!

The next day I had some time to kill while Bas was at a Bachelor's party - so I went to the Grote Markt - which was right near out hotel.

This is the townhall, behind the market on the square.

Here are some pictures from a flower stall. The flowers in Holland are amazing - the variety, and the price! You can tell their a major exporter, because I've never lived anywhere with flowers like this!

Look - 2 BUNCHES of peonies for 5 Euros!! Can you imagine?

And a bread stand - whoa! Look at all that bread!

This is the Dom on the Grote Markt.

The restaurant across the street from our hotel is a converted department store - and a very nice place to eat - we plan to eat there next time we're there!

We stopped to take some pictures along the main canal. Here come the boats, better move the bridge!

It turns!

There go the boats!

And moving on to the next bridge!

A lovely sidewalk cafe in Haarlem... along the canal.

This is the church near Bas's parent's house.

And a typical European classic car, parked just along the way! We always called these "Ducks" when I lived here when I was young.
