Luna's split lip...

Just as I was finishing up the post from yesterday, and about 2 minutes before Bas walked through the door after work, Luna was pushing a mesh, metal trash can around, it slipped, and she fell and bit her lower lip. It looked like a pretty good cut from the outside, so I looked from the inside, and could see blood on the inside as well. So Bas and I stood around and tried to decide whether we should drive to Erlangen, to go to the closest hospital. We both kind of figured that it probably didn't even warrant stitches, and I know the skin on the face and inside the mouth heals very quickly, but we were worried about infection, etc. So Bas went down to our landlady, Frau Maria, to see if she had any antiseptic. She said there was a doctor here in our little village, and called him quickly, and managed to catch him before he left the office. So she drove us down there, and the Dr. took one look and said - no big deal, she'll be fine! He said she hadn't actually bitten through, that there were just some broken blood vessels inside. Fortunately we received our health insurance cards in the mail yesterday!! So I will go down there this morning so that the girls in his office can do the paperwork. I guess we can chalk that up as our first experience with German healthcare!!
