Madurodam

After our trip up the Fairy Tale Road, and after a stop for the night with some friends in Den Haag, we took the opportunity to visit Madurodam before heading to Haarlem.  Since it was a Monday morning, just after it opened, and FREEZING, we had the place all to ourselves!!!  Despite the cold, we really enjoyed it, and Luna loved it!

Click on the pictures to enlarge them... they're much prettier full size!

The boy with his finger in the dike... looks like he might need another finger soon!

Here it is!  No people!!

I actually fit into this shoe with Luna!

Luna peering off the Erasmusbrug (Rotterdam) down at a car park, below... gives you an idea of the scale.

Valkenburg train station... (where I lived as a girl.)

Tulip farm...

Lights, video and sound worked on this one!

Another one for scale...

Alkmaar cheese market...

Getting a new one!

Canals were frozen...

Peering in through the roof of the Rijksmuseum...  the Dutch masters of course!

Anne Frank's house... complete with tourists.

Who's that "tourist?"

"De Dam" or Dam Square in Amsterdam...

Train station...

Wouldn't be complete without some of the notable modern Dutch architecture...

or without a "deep" sea oil rig... complete with twirling props on the helicopter!

The ports...

Schiphol...

Shipyards...

Another train station... lots of those of course!

This little Mars delivery truck came out and dropped off a couple of chocolates for us after we dropped in 10 cents!

(This one is life-size) a park bench for the weary (and warmer) park visitors, made out of solar panels...

Luna found a friend.

And they had the shoes... so of course we had to do it...

I think this must be the 3rd or 4th time we've gotten pictures of her in these?  Don't worry, sweetie, they might fit someday...

(Little trip down memory lane... these were all I could find.)

Luna thought they were really fun, and got a bit carried away.

New building on the way to Haarlem...  the "man's" other half continued inside the structure... gotta love the Netherlands!

And after we got to Oma and Opa's, Luna got the Zwarte Piet costume she missed when we couldn't make it for Sinterklaas.  Perhaps we can use it for Fasching!

Like it with the pink boots, too!
